Scott Henderson is a senior research scientist in the Department of Earth and Space Sciences and a Data Science Fellow at the eScience Institute at the University of Washington. His research uses satellite remote sensing, especially Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR), to study terrestrial natural hazards such as volcanic eruptions, landslides, and earthquakes.
Scott is a prolific contributor to open-source, cloud-native geospatial software, and leads community efforts including the eScience Hackweeks and Data Science Incubator. He was awarded the 2025 College of the Environment Distinguished Staff Award.
